Schools have always monitored and observed students. Teachers are trained to observe behaviors and actions in order to identify kids who may be struggling. Is that a bad thing? The answer to that may not be as straight forward as it once was.
There are few people who do not acknowledge the harms of social media on youth (and adults as well). Those harms can range from mental health issues, sleep problems, addiction and excessive use, exposure to explicit material, and disrupted healthy behaviors – like interacting with peers.
